The Wehinger family from the tranquil Black Forest village of Wutach decided to visit Miniatur Wunderland to round off their seven-day holiday in Hamburg. Friends from Schwarzenbek near Hamburg had told them the evening before that Wunderland was expecting its 4,000,000th visitor on Wednesday. However, they did not believe that one of them could happen to be the anniversary guest. They were all the more surprised when they were greeted at the entrance by numerous onlookers and journalists, monitors with the number 4,000,000 flashed, confetti shot over them and a beaming Frederik Braun ran up to Elvira Wehinger and gave her the good news.
The mum of two daughters (Leonie 2 and Franziska 5) could hardly believe her luck. ‘I’ve heard so much about Miniatur Wunderland and really wanted to see the exhibition. The fact that I am now the 4,000,000th visitor and have been immortalised forever with my own sailing boat is unbelievable.’ As is always the case when something special is about to happen, the Miniatur Wunderland team put a lot of thought into this event. The Wehinger family had a jetty and sailing yacht built on a small, dreamy island in the North-East Sea. In addition to their own yacht, christened Elvira, the family also received a large cake, an ownership certificate and an entry visa for life.
Elvira Wehinger’s husband Stefan was particularly pleased with the entry visa. ‘I am an enthusiastic model railway enthusiast myself and have my own Z-gauge railway. For me, Miniatur Wunderland is the ultimate when it comes to modelling. It’s great that I can enter here with my family for free for life.’ For the rest of the day, the Wehinger family will receive special treatment.
‘I still can’t believe that 4,000,000 people have now seen our Miniatur Wunderland. That’s simply incredible! We’ll be celebrating this with the Wehinger family for the rest of the day,’ says Frederik Braun.
